reason. season. lifetime.

I've been thinking a lot about friendship lately
People these days try so hard to define it
I know things have gotten more coomplicated
Instead of fighting over toys, we fight over boys
But can't it just be like it was in kindergarten
We were friends with the people we got along with and had stuff in common with
Stop trying to define it, just do it
But I have figured out something
Have you ever heard of the saying:
Friends are in your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime
Well you see.. this is how it goes:

1) Reason: Some friends will be there to teach you something. Maybe it will be a bad experience that makes you learn something or maybe it will be a good experience that reminds you of something. You'll probably won't really keep in touch with these people, maybe through Facebook or the occasional high school reunion but not really.

2) Season: Some friends will be there for a while, elementary school, middle school, high school, college, summer, or even in like a bad situation. They are there to stand by you through those tough times but sometimes, it's time to move on and you have to be ok with that. You may actually keep in touch with these people a little better than the "reason" friends

3) Lifetime: Wow, these friends are few and far between but once you find them, hang on to them. Typically, these are probably the ones you meet in college. The ones you have a lot of things in common with. These are the ones you don't have to explain yourself to anymore. Maybe you live with them, or down the hall from them. Maybe you have a lot of classes with them. You all have gotten close faster because you are together more. They know you a lot better in a year and a half than some people have all your life.

So in reality, all these friends are important. I have some of all of them. I am super thankful for my Lifetime friends that I know will be there no matter what. One thing we need to remember though "...There is a friend who sticks closer than a brother." Proverbs 18:24. I hoped this encouraged you, thank your friends randomly for just being awesome
